How it all started...
The first meeting of Bethel Baptist Church was held on June 20, 1978 at 7:30p.m. in the home of Mr & Mrs Jerry Watkins. During this time, founding pastor, Rev. Chapman offered leadership and prayer for God’s blessing upon the newly formed Bethel Baptist Church. In the beginning years the church was able to secure a piece of property on Dixon Rd, where the church is located today. The church grew to about one hundred in size during Pastor Chapman’s tenure.
Expanding the vision...
After several months of searching, the church called a young, Rev. David Jackson, as its second pastor. Pastor Jackson, a graduate of Liberty Bible College, was quite familiar with the area having grown up in Graham. Over time, God began to work in Bethel and the congregation began to grow. The church was able to secure more property and in time added on to the original church building and built a fellowship hall. In the years since, Bethel has growth to over 500 weekly attenders. They still meet on the original land on Dixon Rd, only in a new church sanctuary with the addition of a Family Life Center (classrooms & gym).
